The problem

You can watch all of it and still not catch it.

One stop arrives as ten recordings and a six-page report. Nearly six hours of video, and the thing that decides the motion is one sentence on the third camera, seven seconds away from a sentence on a different camera that contradicts it. Watching all of it does not find that. Holding two cameras in your head at once does.

That is the part that stays manual no matter how good you are, because it is not a reading problem. It is a cross-referencing problem across files nobody can hold side by side.

Really I shouldn’t have to read every word of everything, but I do now.

How it works

Every recording, already broken into the things that happened in it.

Every recording lands with its moments already pulled out, each one a plain sentence describing what happened and the line of speech it came from. Same on dash cam, interview-room video and jail calls.

Legati watches the video, not just the audio. Key moments and on-screen events are indexed, so you can search for what appears, not only what is said.

  • Click any moment or transcript line to jump playback to that second

  • Every citation traces to the exact timestamp, not a summary of it

  • Recording dates read off the burned-in overlay, so your timeline sorts correctly

Across every recording

Ask where the accounts of the use of force stop matching. Legati searches the recordings and reports in the case and shows you each place it finds, cited to the file and the second. It tells you where to start watching, not when to stop.

  2. 2Subject was compliant throughout the stop. No use of force to report.
  3. 3Driver was directed out of the vehicle and stood at the roadside without incident. The stop was cleared and the driver departed.

Ask what your own record supports, and get the law with it.

You used to hold the facts in your head and then go find the law. Ask Legati what your record supports and the two arrive together, each ground cited to a page in your file and to a real published decision.

Every quote and citation links to its source, so you can check it before you file.

That literally just took my entire day down to an hour.

Any basis for a motion to suppress?

Answer

One ground to suppress, and two points for cross at the hearing.

Ground to suppress:

Driver held after the warning was done

The report gives the tail lamp as the reason for the stop, and the officer hands back the license with a warning at 2:05. At 2:34 he is still holding the driver, now for a probation check.

RPT-0417 p. 2VIDEO-0012 2:05VIDEO-0012 2:34Rodriguez v. United States, 575 U.S. 348 (2015)

For cross at the hearing:

Force denied seven seconds later

Seven seconds after the driver asks why he was pushed into the bushes, the officer radios that no force was used.

VIDEO-0012 1:30VIDEO-0003 1:37

For cross at the hearing:

The report repeats the radio call

The report calls the driver compliant with no use of force: the radio call, not what the second camera recorded.

Phone extractions

And then there’s the phone.

Phone extractions, searchable with everything else. Upload the Cellebrite UFDR file and the messages, call logs and media join the case’s index, with no separate reader app to wait on.

There’s also stuff in there that we probably don’t even know is there.

Original files

The file you upload is kept exactly as uploaded. Playback and transcription use separate working copies, and every view is logged. You can delete a case and its documents at any time.

Producing discovery of your own? Mark each document Include, Exclude or Privilege, and Legati applies your Bates prefix, drafts the privilege log in Excel and builds the production ZIP.

Confidentiality and work product

Which officers you flag as unreliable and which inconsistencies you plan to use at trial is work product. Legati never trains AI models on your documents, and our agreements with our AI providers bar them from training on your data.

Each case is visible only to its owner, the paralegals they authorize, and people they explicitly share it with. Your documents are stored in U.S. data centers.

Rely on the page, not the AI.

Legati searches by meaning, so it finds evidence that keyword searches miss. It does the first pass, and answers about the evidence cite the page or the second they came from. Which still leaves the part that isn’t ours to do.

You will be fired if you rely on AI and not your brain.

Senior partner, to her associates

That is the right rule, and nothing here is built to get around it. You still read your file and the judgment stays yours. You just stop finding things late.

Legati started in construction and commercial litigation, where our co-founders practiced for 20-plus years. Criminal defense is newer for us, built on the same document and media pipeline we have run in production for years, not a separate, unproven system.
